We understand that sometimes, you need help outside of regular dental visits, including after-hours care. While a life-threatening emergency always warrants a trip to the emergency room for proper medical treatment, a tooth-saving emergency warrants a call to our office for prompt, tooth saving care.
Even though we would love to meet your under calm circumstances, we know that’s not always possible. You can call us for a first meeting with a dental emergency if you can’t reach your regular dentist or if you don’t have a regular dentist yet.
Sometimes, a dental emergency is easy to spot. You have a tooth that is knocked out or loosened. When a tooth is knocked out, there is a limited window of time to save it, so make sure you call right away to be seen. We will work hard to get you in quickly and help you.
Other times, you may not be sure if a situation with your teeth is an emergency that requires being seen right away or not. Just remember, this is your smile at issue. It’s better to call and ask for help figuring out if you need to be seen than suffer permanent damage to your smile.
Tooth damage can occur from sports injuries, falls, biting a piece of hard food—basically the same way you can injure any other part of your body. Illnesses and infections can occur in the mouth like they can in other parts of the body as well. Just like illness and injury in other parts of the body require a doctor’s care, illness or injury in the mouth require the care of a dentist.
Remember, the Emergency Room is trained and equipped to deal with life-threatening emergencies. They are not trained and equipped to deal with tooth-threatening emergencies. We are ready to help you preserve your smile when illness or injury interrupt your day.
If you have questions about emergency dental care or would like to schedule a consultation with your Glen Ellyn emergency dentist, give us a call today or schedule an appointment online! We look forward to smiling with you.
